ABOUT
What to expect? A fusion of ancient wisdom, mantra meditation with Q+A, discussion and plant-based dinner!
Urban Meditations are carefully curated evenings centred around a talk and discussion on ancient eastern wisdom. Each week, we host a different speaker with a fresh topic presented weekly.
These talks aim to help you develop positive life habits, gain a deeper understanding of authentic yoga and meditation literature, and leave you feeling fulfilled and spiritually refreshed!
As part of the evening, you'll also get to experience Kirtan (musical mantra meditation) and enjoy a delicious dinner afterwards.
Govinda's is dedicated to promoting spiritual wellbeing and our Urban Meditations evenings are a great way to start your journey. With a new topic each week, we delve into themes from the most authentic yoga literature – the Bhagavad-Gita - finding out how we can apply this timeless wisdom to our lives for a happier and more enriching existence.
£5 per ticket. Payment online or on the door.
What is Kirtan?
When we practice mantra meditation (Kirtan), the sound we produce is not inert material sound, but of a transcendental nature. It acts like an alarm clock, awakening us to our original state of consciousness.
Although authentic metaphysical sound vibrations may seem like any other sound, Vedic mantras originate from outside of the material world and these ancient and sacred mantras lift us above the influence of the material world - connecing us again to our source of happiness and peace.
Through sacred sound inherent in mantra-meditation, we begin to catch glimpses of our indwelling spirit, while also gradually opening ourselves up to a relationship with our original, divine source.
All welcome!
